Hi, I’m Max

(they/them)

I believe we all have the ability to connect and grow, that we can experience healing, both individually, relationally, and collectively. As a direct and relational therapist I view therapy as a container to learn about ourselves, to show up as we are, and to find awareness, choice, and support in the life that awaits us.

I work from a trauma informed lens and draw from theories such as Hakomi, EMDR, Narrative, AEDP, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I work from an anti-racist, sex-positive, pro-disability justice, kink positive, fat positive, queer-friendly, polyam-friendly, strengths based perspective.

I am a registered LMFT with the Oregon Board of Licensed Counselors and Therapists and the New Mexico Counseling & Therapy Board. I completed my M.S. in Marriage, Couples, and Family therapy at Portland State University. I have been trained in the Hakomi/META method, and completed a year long internship at the META Clinic. Additionally, I have completed an Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples Externship & Core Skills training, and a Suicide Assist training. I have also been trained in Level 1 & 2 of EMDR as well as Flash technique. Additionally I have completed in training in AEDP.

I received my B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College with a focus on Art and Writing. I later went on to get an M.F.A. in Poetry from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My identity as an artist and poet informs the way I see the world and is a lens I bring to my work with my clients.

I felt called to become a therapist as through the years I grew and shifted from my own past life experiences. I continue to be inspired by the path of growth and healing that I continually move along. As a teenager I was deeply impacted by a therapist who supported me and truly saw me. She helped me change the trajectory of my life and showed me I was not beyond healing. My experiences since then with therapists as a client have not always been what I have hoped for, and knew was possible. This has made me even more passionate about providing a non-judgmental, safe, and healing space for those that walk through my door.

Outside of sessions I can be found spending time with my three rescue animals: my coonhound Mulder (the truth is out there…) and two cats, Snooks and Turnip. I am queer & non-binary, use gender neutral pronouns, and experience & express my gender in various ways. I am also neurodivergent which impacts the way I show up in the world both as a therapist and human. As a white & able-bodied person, I continue to commit to using my privilege to work towards systemic change.

I’d love to hear from you…
