Hi, I’m Max

(they/them)

I believe we all have the ability to connect and grow, & that we can experience healing, both individually, relationally, and collectively. Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore our inner world, and grow new ways of being. As a direct and relational therapist, I offer a grounded, nonjudgmental presence to help you show up as you are, connect with your truth, and move toward the life you want.

I work from a trauma-informed lens, drawing from approaches such as Hakomi, EMDR, AEDP, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. You can find out more about these modalities under the counseling tab of my website. The foundation of my work is rooted in anti-oppressive values. I am always learning and committed to continuous education. I hold values of being sex-positive, pro-disability justice, kink-affirming, fat-positive, queer and polyam-friendly, and hold a strengths-based perspective towards all my clients.

I specialize in working with:

  • LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent adults

  • Folks navigating trauma, grief, identity shifts, or complex relational patterns

  • Creatives, misfits, caregivers, and those craving more authenticity, connection, or internal safety

  • Folks navigating chronic pain or illness

  • Adults wanting to heal their attachment wounds and move towards secure attachment

  • Those navigating the impact of emotionally immature or unavailable parents

  • People working to untangle themselves from old family roles and patterns

  • Queer couples, including poly relationships

  • Adult children and their parent(s) in family therapy

I felt called to become a therapist as through the years I grew and shifted from my own trauma and life experiences. As a teenager I was deeply impacted by a therapist who supported me and truly saw me. She helped me change the trajectory of my life and showed me I was not beyond healing. My experiences since then with therapists as a client have not always been what I have hoped for, and knew was possible. This has made me even more passionate about providing a non-judgmental, safe, and healing space for those that walk through my door. I’m committed to creating a space in therapy where you don’t have to earn safety or belonging.

Before becoming a therapist, I earned an M.F.A. in Poetry from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College focused on art and writing. My identity as an artist and poet informs the way I see the world and is a lens I bring to my work with my clients.

After living in Portland, Oregon for close to 10 years, I moved to New Mexico, where I currently reside. I share my home with my four animals that you might see from time to time: Spatzle (poodle mix), Moon (aussie) and two cats: Chama and Yarrow.  Outside of sessions you can find me in my art studio (Salt Circles Studio), working on blending my printmaking and poetry. I love spending time in nature, am continually learning how to keep my garden & houseplants alive, and am a regular at my local thrift store, library, & community college. I’m queer and non-binary, use gender-neutral pronouns, and am autistic and have ADHD. These are all parts of my lived experience that shape how I show up, both in and outside the therapy room. As a white and able-bodied clinician, I am committed to ongoing learning and using my privilege to support systemic change.

I’d love to hear from you…
